India Defeat, 'There May Be Some Retirements'
Indian cricket great
Sunil Gavaskar says some of his team's players may retire after their 10-wicket
loss to England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup. According to
Hindustan Times, after the second semi-final in Adelaide, Sunil Gavaskar said,
"There may be some retirements, but this is not the time to think about
that," adding, "There are many players in the team who have is around
35 years of age and will be thinking about his place in the T20 team.''It
should be noted that India's tour of New Zealand will start from November 18
and the Blue Shirts will play three T20Is and three ODIs during the tour. It
was decided to rest several senior players including Virat Kohli and Rohit
Sharma for the tour. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya will lead
the Indian T20 team while Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian ODI team. In this
regard, Sunil Gavaskar said that 'a different team has been formed for the tour
of New Zealand and the team is going there under the leadership of Hardik
Pandya.' Will try because clearly with this move the selection committee has
signaled that Pandya has been chosen for the captaincy after winning his first
trophy as a captain in IPL. The team will be completely different.''Remember,
Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans won the IPL this year.
