According to NDTV, ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli spoke about the importance of the number 18 in his life.
He revealed that the number 18 was originally given to him as such, but over time he developed a spiritual connection with the number. Speaking to Star Sports, King Kohli said, "To tell you the truth, the number 18 was given to me when I first opened the India Under-19 jersey with my name and number written on the back. I made my debut for India on August 18. My father also passed away on 18th December 2006, however I got this number from him before but I feel a spiritual connection with it. He said that he feels lucky that fans wear jerseys with his name and number.
Kohli added, "I can't believe that when we go to play matches, I see people wearing jerseys with my name and number on them." Surprising to me because as a kid, I wanted to wear the jersey of my heroes. I am thankful for this and this is an opportunity that God has given me and I should be thankful for it.
Virat Kohli scored a century in the IPL after four years on Thursday. He scored 100 runs off 63 balls in the crucial match played against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad Deccan. Kohli has scored 538 runs at an average of 44 in 13 matches in the current IPL.
