Espanyol has lost four consecutive La Liga matches and has dropped to 17th place in the league, just ahead of Almeria on goal difference. On the other hand, Valladolid, who suffered a 6-0 defeat against Real Madrid, are one place above Espanyol with one point more. Espanyol announced the sacking of coach Diego Martinez, following a farewell press conference. Espanyol released a statement stating that the decision was made to keep the team in the top flight. Former Espanyol striker Luis Garcia will replace him until June 2024. Meanwhile, Real Valladolid fired coach Jose 'Pacheta' Rojo with the objective of staying in the top flight. Ronaldo, former Brazilian footballer and the president of Valladolid, expressed his gratitude to the sacked coach. This season, a number of La Liga clubs have parted ways with their managers, including Elche, Sevilla, and Valencia.
