Royal Challengers Bangalore fell short of the highest run-chase in Indian Premier League history Chennai Super Kings beat them by eight runs in a thrilling, high-scoring game.
Chennai Super Kings scored an impressive 226 in the Indian Premier League match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, thanks to Devon Conway's spectacular 83 off 45 and Shivam Dube's 52. Despite a formidable chase led by Captain Faf du Plessis (62 off 33) and Glenn Maxwell (76 off 36), Bangalore fell just short of the target, needing 19 off the final over. The partnership between Du Plessis and Maxwell yielded 12 sixes and 126 runs, but they were both dismissed in the space of two overs, slowing down the chase. Although Dinesh Karthik kept the momentum going with 28 off 14, regular wickets fell, and Chennai held on for the win. Conway was named Player of the Match, and Chennai moved up to third in the table with three wins from five matches.
However, despite the strong efforts from the Bangalore batsmen, they ultimately fell short of their target, ending on 190-3. Had they achieved the victory, it would have been the highest successful run chase in the history of the Indian Premier League. Earlier in the match, Conway and Dube put on a masterclass in batting for Chennai, with Conway's blistering knock of 83 off just 45 balls setting the tone for the innings. Dube contributed a valuable half-century, adding 52 off 28 deliveries to help Chennai amass a formidable total of 226. The victory takes Chennai up to third place in the IPL standings, with three wins from five matches.
