MADRID: Villarreal's Alex Baena will file a police complaint after being "attacked" following his team's win over Real Madrid, the club confirmed Sunday, with various Spanish media outlets reporting Los Blancos midfielder Fede Valverde punched him.

According to reports, Alex Baena was attacked by Real Madrid's Valverde after Villarreal's defeat in La Liga. Villarreal released a statement acknowledging the attack and stating that Baena has decided to file a complaint with the police against the attacker. The team expressed its rejection of violence and pledged to support Baena throughout the process.

 Real Madrid and Villarreal declined to comment. Baena denied accusations of taunting Valverde about his unborn child, which were reported in some Spanish media outlets. Sources close to Valverde claimed that Baena had made similar comments during a Copa del Rey clash in January. Villarreal team delegate Xisco Nadal initially called Valverde "thuggish and cowardly" on Twitter, but later deleted the post.
